This year marks a defining moment for Nate’s Place—one that will shape our ability to serve youth and young adults for decades to come. For the first time, we are taking a bold and meaningful step to secure our services long term by purchasing a permanent home in Oxnard.
The identified 1.4+ acre property will do more than put down roots. It will allow Nate’s Place to protect and expand the wellness programs our community depends on—while adding 12 Emergency Peer Respite Beds for Transitional Aged Youth, offering immediate, compassionate support for young people navigating crisis, recovery, and transition. A permanent space means stability, growth, and the ability to reach more lives when it matters most.
A Critical Opportunity—And a Community Challenge
We’ve applied for a major building grant to help make this vision possible. The grant includes a challenge component, requiring Nate’s Place to raise 10% of the total grant funds to unlock the full award” shared Heidi Allison, Co-Founder of Nate’s Place, “For us, that means raising $600,000 by October 2026. This is a big goal—but with the support of our community, it’s within reach.”

Nate’s Legacy Lives Here
Nate’s Place was founded in honor of Nathan Rhoades, a bright, compassionate young man who made an extraordinary impact in his 21 short years. When Nate faced addiction, he found recovery early—thanks to a simple but powerful approach built on connection, purpose, and support.
That approach became Nate’s Recovery Recipe, and it remains the heart of everything we do:
- 1:1 Peer Recovery Coaching
- Healthy recreational and creative activities
- Counseling, Support and Education groups that foster belonging and growth
This model works. Since opening our doors in February 2023, Nate’s Place has proudly served almost 400 youth and young adults throughout Ventura County, at our center and in schools—creating a safe, welcoming space where healing happens and hope takes root.
